HOMEWORK POLICY
At Hollyvale, we believe that nightly reading is the most essential daily learning activity. Therefore, beginning in the Fall of 2009, Hollyvale will be modifying the nightly homework expectations. 1) Students should read (or be read to) each night for 30 minutes and practice math facts nightly using flash cards. 2) Students who do not finish their class work at school and students struggling in specific areas will bring written work home to be completed as needed. 3) Projects and reports will be assigned by teachers on an occasional basis. 4) Kindergarten students only attend school 3 ½ hours a day and will continue to bring home nightly homework for skills practice. Hollyvale hopes that without daily written assignments for homework, parents will ensure enough time is set aside each night to practice and enjoy reading.
